 Research field:

My current work is the continuation of Naomi Klinghoffer’s research involving the use of char from biomass gasification as a potential catalyst for tar decomposition. The aim of my work is to continue the investigation on the impacts of gasification conditions on char properties. I have to settle relevant chemical, physical and physicochemical analyses to understand properly the char catalytic performances. I will focus on surface properties, metal-carbon interactions and surface functionalities.

Past Research:

Pyrolysis of poplar wood on a lab-scale fixed-bed reactor.

The aim of this work was to develop a lab-scale reactor to study the homogeneous and heterogeneous secondary reactions of tar during pyrolysis of biomass.  I tested the impact of operating conditions (temperature and residence time) on the change of mass and composition of biomass. I also did extensive chemical analysis on the gas and tar phases.  These data were used to obtain kinetics profiles of tar conversion.
